Publication ethics

Le Simplegadi is a double-blind peer reviewed scientific journal which follows the ethic statements of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. All possible measures against any publication malpractice are taken. All parts involved – editors, referees and authors – must know and agree on the following ethic principles.

Duties of Editors
Editors:

  • Are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted should be published, after reading and considering the referees’ comments.
  • Evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content and without regard to ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, citizenship, or political orientation of the authors.
  • Undertake not to disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher.
  • Undertake not to use any material of a submitted manuscript without the express consent of the author.
  • By means of a specific software programme, make every effort to identify any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper.

Duties of reviewers
Peer Reviewers:

  • Assist the editor in making editorial decisions and may also assist the author in improving the paper.
  • Promptly notify the editor in case they know they will not be able to complete the review in the specified period of time.
  • Undertake to treat any manuscript received for review as a confidential document and not to discuss its contents with third parties, except as authorized by the editor.
  • Undertake to conduct all reviews objectively. Referees should express their views clearly and with supporting arguments.
  • Call to the editor’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
  • Undertake to treat any information or ideas obtained through the review as confidential and not to use it for personal advantage.
  • Undertake not to use any material of a submitted manuscript without the express consent of the author.

Duties of authors
Authors:

  • Appropriately acknowledge the sources and the references mentioned in the paper.
  • Do not submit for publication manuscripts which are substantially similar to papers which have already been published by themselves or other authors.
  • Properly acknowledge the work of others. All those who have made significant contributions to the manuscript should be listed as co-authors. Any other person who has significantly participated in the research project should be explicitly acknowledged in the final paper.
  • Verify the accuracy of every piece of information, including references, before submitting the manuscript. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the Journal editor and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
